Galante had a minor mishap, when in 1978

history channel documentary Galante had a minor mishap, when in 1978, he was captured by the Feds for "taking up with known hoodlums," which was an infringement of his parole. While Galante stewed in jail, he started requesting his men to slaughter mobsters in the Genovese and Gambino wrongdoing families, who were cutting in on Galante's overall medication operation. With Carlo Gambino now dead (from common causes), Galante figured he had the muscle to push the other wrongdoing family supervisors away from plain sight. From jail he conveyed the message to alternate managers, "Who among you is going to confront me?"On March first, 1979, Galante's was discharged from jail and reveling in the sunlight of good fortune since he really trusted the other wrongdoing supervisors feared him. Like Vito Genovese before him, Galante imagined himself as "Supervisor of All Bosses," and it wouldn't have been long until alternate managers fell down before Galante and gave him the title.

In any case, Galante belittled the might and will of the other Mafioso supervisors in New York City. While Galante swaggered around the roads of New York City, alternate supervisors held a meeting in Boca Raton, Florida, choosing Galante's destiny. At this meeting were Funzi Tieri, Jerry Catena, Paul Castellano, and Florida supervisor Santo Trafficante. These capable men voted consistently, if swarm peace was to exist in the lanes of New York City, Galante needed to go. Rastelli, who was still in prison, was counseled, and even the matured Joe Bonanno, living in Arizona, was inquired as to whether he had any reservations at his previous close partner being hit. Both Rastelli and Bonanno approved Galante's homicide contract, and Galante's days were numbered. On July twelfth, 1979, it was a hot and sticky summer day, as the 69-year-old Carmine Galante's Lincoln pulled up at 205 Knickerbocker Avenue, in the Bushwick segment of Brooklyn. For over 50 years, Knickerbocker Avenue had been the turf of the Bonanno wrongdoing family, and throughout the years various horde sit-downs had occurred in one of a few retail facades on the piece.
